Does your vote count?

The elections in Colombia are coming as a reminder of Russian manipulation. Being a Republic the elected officials decide who will be president. Duque is in the hands of Uribe and if you want to win the election and be on the side of Trump that is where your vote should go. Petro made a disastrous cause for fear in being opposed to the FARC. With the United States going to war over chemical weapons that were only a show of misconduct and not a Hitleresc show of world domination, Colombia seems to want to fight the battle again with its own civil war over Communism that is in no shape or form the likes of that in China. Petro may seem good intentioned in his efforts to raise the bar in Colombia for higher living standards, but he seems overly eager and wants to do things way too fast. It will leave most of the country behind while only a few in the mountain tops get to enjoy the country. It may bring visitors from other countries to star attractions, but it will only be more visual pollution in the actual material construction of the wonders that are promised.

People from the rest of the world need to learn how to come to Colombia and take the bus and get directions from a local even if the directions seem out of contact with standards set in other places in the world. By that I mean directions like, ‘down there’, means, ‘right at the end of my hand just here’. People also need to understand that Colombia is not very technological even though there is a boom in startups from Bogotá, Cali, and Medellín. The rest of Colombia just got their first smart phones, this year. So if you want a technological leader, think using your vote to sway the parties by casting it for Fajardo.

That being said the battle is thick on Facebook with the candidates getting slaughtered at every post. This has much to do with computer science. Colombians may feel like they are the best at everything, even when it comes to electronics, but there are powers greater than Colombians fighting the battle here as well. Trump wants Duque as president. That’s a a good thing. It’s better to get what’s good while it’s there while it lasts.
I applaud Petro for his vision for Colombia but I say lets get the metro in Bogotá first and similar projects before redesigning the country. As far as the FARC is concerned I wish they would look to China for an example of a win-win economy. The military is battling corporations to stay ahead, it is no longer military first in all accounts. That should be well taken as a move in process forward. We will have plenty of battles in the future, innocent lives are not what should be given freely; especially when we are adding a billion people to the planet every twelve years.
